1. Hai Hung Town – Hai Lang – Quang Tri, October 30, 2020

Everyone was present very early for the event. The street was still muddy and wet due to the effects of the flood. Many people still had to row boats and walked to the gathering place just to attend. This is a yearly suffering for the people here. Heavy rains and flood damage properties and crops. It is making their lives even more difficult.

2. Hai Thuong Town, Hai Lang, Quang Tri, October 20, 2020

Seeing people wade through the water to come to our event is exciting and made us realize how they need the gifts we brought for them. Walking through the water is very dangerous because the road’s surface is completely flooded. In fact, many people row boats with their children.

As a commune heavily damaged by floods, many houses are completely damaged. People have to row boats to travel. They lost their houses. So, whatever help they could get, they would get to survive. We thought that is why they did their best to attend the event.

3. House of Culture, hamlet 7-8, Thuong Hamlet, Hai Thuong, Hai Lang Quang Tri, October 20, 2020

It is a place with the heaviest flood damage in Quang Tri province! The water is still flowing fast, many people have to climb to the roof to get a temporary place to stay! There were a lot of old people and children. They have to live on the roof because the flood has damaged their houses and washed away everything they have! With the bone-chilling cold due to the rainstorm and a hungry stomach just thinking about it, we feel so sad for them.

4. Huc Town, Huong Hoa District, Quang Tri Province, October 31, 2021

As a remote community in the area of Quang Tri province, which suffered heavy damage from floods and rains, the people here were almost isolated during the flood season. Traveling back and forth to the area became a predicament because the bridges and roads were completely affected by the heavy flood.

People here were forced to live in a very difficult situation. They had to eat leftover and moldy rice just to satisfy the hunger. There was no enough decent food. The worst part is, the majority is the elderly population! Children were unable to go to school because the school building itself was also damaged by the flood. However, they still live on stilts precariously in the hills without knowing about the danger that may come at any time.

People have to walk 4 hours just to claim the gifts we prepared because the road has been eroded and divided by floods! But they were still present in large numbers and were very happy when they received relief gifts. We wish we could have given more.

5. Cheng Village, Tan Lien Town, Huong Hoa District, Quang Tri Province, October 31, 2020

As one of the difficult places affected by floods, there were many old people and children here but had very little relief help! A family usually has 4-5 children who all lack food and clothing. They don’t even have sandals but still has to walk barefoot! Most of them belong to the ethnic groups of Van Kieu and Pako.

There were a few dozen of children who were present during our event. Seeing how they were looking at the gifts with all our attention was enough to feel how much they needed these! It was raining lightly but they still queued up to receive gifts.

6. Cultural House in Phan Xa Village, Xuan Thuy Town, Le Thuy District, Quang Binh Province, November 1, 2020

This is another place which was hit by extreme flood. All their possessions and livestock have been washed away. The land is muddy and can’t be used for farming. They are living in mud-covered houses caused by floods. Surprisingly, though they are in need of much attention and help, people have a high sense of order. They were so organized in lining up to get the gifts we prepared for them. They cried because they were so happy when they received gifts from TMT FOUDATION.

7. Hoang Giang Village, Xuan Thuy Town, Le Thuy District, Quang Binh Province, November 1, 2020

People have to row boats to receive gifts, some can’t come and need government support. They are all very happy when received a gift from TMT FOUNDATION. The flood situation increased the poverty rate of people here.
